Prime Time for Fall Fishing Charters on Anna Maria Island
The next couple of weeks look like prime time to book one of our 4- or 6-hour outings. Daytime highs are hovering in the low to upper 70s (even pushing toward 80°F on some days), with nights staying mild and comfortable. That kind of weather means we’ll be able to get out on the water early, stay out late, and make the most of the wide range of species that our local waters offer this time of the year.
We pride ourselves on offering versatile charter options, and this Thanksgiving edition is no different. Whether your group wants to stay inshore and enjoy some relaxed, scenic angling or venture a little farther into nearshore territory for bigger and more varied species, we can do it all at a very high level.
Inshore action: snook, redfish & trout
For the folks who love the thrill of Anna Maria Island inshore fishing, we’ll be targeting some of my favorites like snook, redfish, and trout. The estuaries, flats, and mangrove channels around Anna Maria give us excellent access to these fish — and with the stable weather we’ve got coming, they’re going to be active. Calm winds and clear skies often mean fish movement is easier to predict, bait is moving, and visibility is good.
Picture this: drifting along a mangrove shoreline, the tide moving, and a sleek redfish gliding out of a cut. Or a chunky speckled trout coming up from the flats to grab a shrimp or soft plastic. That’s the kind of inshore excitement we’re offering on our 4-hour trips — a perfect fit if you’ve got a half-day and want to maximize fun without going full-day.
Nearshore & structure fishing: hogfish, black drum, and more
But if you’re thinking “let’s go bigger” or want a better chance of loading a cooler full of fish, we also run Anna Maria Island nearshore charters. For the next couple of weeks, we’ll have great opportunities for hogfish (those near-shore reef fish know how to pull back and fight), and structure around bridges, rock piles, and wrecks gives us access to black drum, sheepshead, snapper, and more. The 6-hour option is perfect for this: getting a bit of inshore action and then heading out toward structure to experience a different type of fishing that you might not get the chance to do too often. The weather over the next few weeks will give us plenty of opportunities to get offshore and catch hogfish.. It’s a rare thing this time of the year to get such a great weather window, so I’m looking to take advantage of it.

Booking & what to expect
We’re offering both 4-hour and 6-hour fishing charters over the next couple of weeks (and into Thanksgiving). Here’s how to pick the best fit:
- 4-hour charter: Great for a half-day family-friendly fishing excursion. Ideal for inshore fishing — snook, redfish, trout. Get out early, come back in time for a nice lunch, or hit the beach afterward.
- 6-hour charter: Best if you want to explore both inshore and nearshore. More time = more opportunity to hit structure, target hogfish, black drum, and take advantage of the full range of fishing options we provide.
When you book, bring sunscreen, a light jacket (just in case the breeze picks up in the afternoon), and your enthusiasm. We’ll supply the rods, tackle, local expertise, and a fun, safe trip. Plus, with the stable forecast we’ve got, we can plan more confidently on where to go and what to target — meaning more “on-the-water” time for you.
