Fishing Charters Anna Maria Island

As the fall season rolls in, the fishing around Anna Maria Island has been nothing short of spectacular. The cooler mornings, calm Gulf waters, and abundance of bait on the grass flats have made for some incredible days on the water. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a family looking for a fun day on vacation, now is one of the best times of year to book your fishing charters Anna Maria Island adventure.

What’s Biting Around Anna Maria Island

Our recent charters have been producing an exciting variety of fish species. Inshore, the snook bite has been red-hot along mangrove shorelines and creek mouths. These powerful fish put up an amazing fight, and there’s nothing like watching one explode on a bait near the surface. Redfish have also been feeding aggressively, especially around the oyster bars and sandy potholes on the grass flats. Most of the reds we’ve been catching have been slot-sized, perfect for photos before a healthy release.

Spotted sea trout have made their return in good numbers too, filling in the gaps between snook and redfish catches. They’ve been striking live pilchards and soft plastics in 3–5 feet of water. It’s always great to see families and first-time anglers hook into steady action with these willing biters.

Just off the beaches and nearshore reefs, the action has been fast and furious with Spanish mackerel, kingfish, and bonito. These speedy fish have been chasing big schools of baitfish that are easy to spot from the surface. The sky literally comes alive with diving birds and fish busting bait, and when you get in the mix, it’s nonstop fun. Spanish mackerel are perfect for anglers of all skill levels, and the kingfish are starting to show up in larger numbers as we move deeper into fall. These “smokers” can peel drag in a hurry and make for some unforgettable battles.

Sharks, Jack Crevalle, and Other Hard-Fighting Favorites

For those who enjoy a little more adrenaline, we’ve also been tangling with plenty of sharks. Blacktips, spinners, and bonnetheads have been frequent visitors to our baits, and they always bring excitement to the trip—especially for kids. Jack crevalle and ladyfish have been keeping rods bent between our targeted species, and while they may not be table fare, they’re pure fun to catch with their powerful runs and jumps.

Bait Has Been Plentiful

One of the best parts about this time of year is how easy bait has been to catch. The grass flats are loaded with pilchards and threadfins right now, which means we’re spending less time throwing the net and more time fishing. Having a livewell full of lively baitfish is key to a successful trip, and this fall has provided plenty of it. When the bait is easy, the fish tend to cooperate—and lately, they’ve been doing exactly that.

Fall Break and Familiar Faces

This fall has also brought back a lot of familiar faces. We’ve been fortunate to take many of our repeat clients out again, as families return to Anna Maria Island for fall break. It’s always special to watch kids who caught their first fish with us years ago now reel in big snook and kingfish on their own. These repeat trips are the heart of what we do—creating lasting memories on the water and seeing families come back year after year.

Looking Ahead to a Busy Season

As the weather continues to cool and the holidays approach, we’re gearing up for a busy charter season. The fish are active, the bait is thick, and the conditions are ideal for both inshore and nearshore trips. Whether you want to chase trophy snook in the backwaters, hook into fast-moving kingfish offshore, or just enjoy a relaxing day on the water with family, we’ve got a trip tailored for you.If you’re planning a visit to the island soon, now’s the perfect time to reserve your spot. The next few months are shaping up to be some of the best fishing we’ll see all year, and the demand for charters is already picking up fast. Don’t miss out on the chance to experience why our guests return again and again for the best fishing charters Anna Maria Island has to offer.
