Fall Fishing Report: The Redfish Are Fired Up, Cobia Are Rolling In, and the Weather is Perfect for Making Memories

Experience the Thrill: Anna Maria Island Fishing Charter

If you’ve been thinking about booking a fishing charter, now is the time — and I mean right now. The fall bite has been nothing short of incredible lately, and everything is lining up perfectly: the fish are active, the weather is gorgeous, and we’ve had the pleasure of fishing with some of the kindest families during their fall breaks. I can’t say it enough — I love this job, and I’m so thankful to share the experience of fishing with people from all over who come to make memories here in paradise.

Let’s talk fishing — because the action has been heating up fast.

The Redfish Bite is Absolutely On Fire

This time of year, the redfish are really putting on a show. We’ve been seeing great numbers of quality reds moving through the flats and mangrove shorelines, and they’re feeding aggressively. They’re hitting live bait, cut bait, and even artificial lures with a vengeance. Sight fishing them in clear, shallow water has been a real treat for anglers, especially during those perfect high sun afternoons.

Whether you’re an experienced angler chasing a personal best or you’re just looking for a fun, exciting first-time experience, redfish are the perfect target right now. Their fight is strong, their colors are vibrant, and they’re one of my favorite species to introduce families to — because once you hook one, you’re hooked too.

Cobia Are Showing Up on Our Nearshore Charters

Along with the inshore excitement, we’re seeing more and more cobia showing up on our nearshore trips. These powerful fish are always a welcome surprise when they pop up behind the boat or cruise in on a wreck. Cobia are known for their size, strength, and unpredictability — and they’ve made several charters unforgettable over the past couple of weeks.

We’ve had a few days where we spotted multiple cobia in a single trip, giving guests the chance to test their skills and experience the thrill of battling one of Florida’s top nearshore predators. If you’ve never fought a cobia before, be prepared — they’re tough, they run hard, and they don’t give up easily. But that’s what makes the payoff so rewarding.

Perfect Fall Weather for Comfortable and Enjoyable Trips

One of the best parts of fall fishing here on Anna Maria Island is the weather. We’re finally getting a break from the summer heat, and the cooler mornings and warm, sunny afternoons are making every trip incredibly comfortable. The humidity drops just enough to make the breeze feel crisp, and the seas are staying calm — perfect for families, beginners, and anyone who wants to just enjoy a relaxing day on the water.

Fall brings some of the best conditions of the year. You don’t have to worry about pop-up thunderstorms or extreme heat. It’s just… easy. The kind of weather that makes you forget your phone and soak up every minute on the boat.

Making Memories with Amazing Families

One of the things I’ve enjoyed most this season is fishing with so many amazing families who are down here for fall break. It’s such a privilege to be part of these special moments — whether it’s a kid catching their first fish, a dad and son sharing a quiet moment at sunrise, or a big group cheering each other on when the bite is hot.

Fishing brings people together in a way few other things can. There’s no better feeling than watching people connect, laugh, and celebrate their time together on the water. These trips aren’t just about catching fish (although that’s always a bonus!) — they’re about making memories that last long after vacation ends.

Why I’m Grateful Every Day to Do This

Running Anna Maria Island fishing charters is more than just a career for me — it’s a way of life. Every time I push off the dock, I’m reminded how lucky I am to do what I love. I get to meet people from all walks of life, share my knowledge of our waters, and help create unforgettable experiences for others. That’s something I never take for granted.

It’s not just about putting fish in the boat (although we’re doing plenty of that lately!). It’s about the conversations, the laughs, the excitement, and the joy that comes from spending a day on the water. I’m truly thankful for every single charter and every family that chooses to spend part of their vacation with us.
