How long is a half-day fishing charter, and what should we expect?
A half-day fishing charter lasts 4 hours, running from 8am to 12pm or 1pm to 5pm. These three fish are some of my favorites to target, and I have extensive experience in catching them. Occasionally, we may head offshore on our 4-hour trips, but staying inshore typically gives you more value due to the time it takes to reach offshore waters. We’ll fish around local estuaries like Perico, Palmasola Bay, Tampa Bay, and Sarasota Bay, where you can enjoy beautiful scenery, birds, dolphins, and more. These trips are also ideal for people who get seasick in rougher waters, as my half-day trips are conducted in very shallow, backwater areas where I’ve never had anyone get seasick.

The cons of a half-day trip?
The only downside to a half-day trip instead of a 6 or 8-hour trip is less fishing time! If you’re looking to go offshore for hogfish, catch tarpon in spring and summer, or target permit to check a fish off your bucket list, I would recommend booking a longer trip than a half-day. We can do all that in a 4-hour trip, but a longer trip gives you the best chance to go after the bigger species!
