A Day In The Life Of A Anna Maria Island Fishing Charter Guide with AMI Excursions and Captain Nate Costello

A Day In The Life Of A Anna Maria Island Fishing Charter Guide:

First off,  I want to thank all my amazing clients for allowing me to do what I love day in and day out. If it wasn’t for you guys this awesome job that I get to do for a living would not be possible and I am so thankful to take you and your families fishing for a living with the goal in mind to help you all create memories that you will never forget. I start my days leaving the house around 4:30 am and heading to the local boat ramp to launch my boat. From there the most important part of the day starts and that is catching the elusive pilchards which are in my opinion the best baitfish to ever swim in our beautiful water ways. These pilchards can be very difficult to catch some days and some days it can be as easy as can be.. You never really know which day it will be tough so I like to get out on the water very early, providing me plenty of time to load both of my live wells with bait. My live wells have 2 2000 gallon per hour pumps going to them to make sure once I catch my baitfish they stay nice, healthy, and lively.

How To Catch Pilchards:

There’s a few different environments where I catch these baitfish and where I catch them all depends on the time of the year, time of the day, and moon phase. I Catch these Pilchards on grass flats, beaches and passes, and bridges. My favorite place to catch bait is a big beautiful bridge in the middle of Tampa bay called the Sunshine Skyway Bridge where the baitfish get very plentiful on the pilings and can make for some easy bait catching! In the spring time it gets very windy and choppy at this bridge and it can make for a very intense morning gathering the bait while also staying safe! I throw a 12 foot castnet to gather these bait fish and it is the most important necessity for my Anna Maria Island Fishing Charters.

What I do After I Catch Bait:

The next step after catching bait is to clean the boat and get it looking nice and pretty for my clients to step aboard and enjoy their trip. Usually after I am done catching bait the boat looks like a nightmare with bait fish scattered everywhere and grass and slime and all kinds of excess from catching bait that morning. I get the boat all nice and clean and scrub it down with only the best soap that money can buy to make sure the boat is clean and smells great. I then go to the boat ramp of my clients choosing to ensure that my Anna Maria Fishing Charters are convenient for my guests and we set off to catch some fish! My next 4-8 hours of my day are my absolute favorite because it involves helping you, your family, and friends making memories that you will never forget by catching awesome fish, sharing great conversations, and maybe throwing a little bit of competition in the mix! After our great day of fishing we then return to the dock and I will filet your fish that we kept from our charter and get it ready for you to throw it in some hot grease!

What I Do After Our Great Fishing Charter On Anna Maria:

After I get finished with my fishing charter which usually takes place on AMI I have about a 20 minute boat ride back home to the Manatee river where I put my boat in and out everyday. I then clean the boat and get my boat looking clean again as it gets very dirty after slinging bait fish and fish around it all day long! I get all my rods and reels ready to go fishing the next day and ensure that my boat is clean and ready to provide an experience that you can only get by booking with AMI Excursions. Now it’s time to go hang out with my awesome family! Thank you guys for reading and I can’t wait to fish with you all when you’re down on the beautiful island.
